How Wigs are Manufactured

We will introduce how human hair wigs are Manufactured. Human hair wigs have the following advantages:

  • Natural: These wigs use human hair with an invisible hairline, so they are as realistic-looking as natural hair.
  • Customize: The human hair wigs are much easier to customize than a synthetic wig and can withstand treatments from blow dryers, straighteners or curling tongs.
  • Longer service life: The human hair wigs are also last much longer than synthetic wigs, and can be used for over 1-1.5 years.

We need to prepare and sort the human hair.

First, We choose the hairs to be used and ensure they are all facing in the same direction from the root to the tip, ensuring the cuticles are all intact. These hairs are bound together in bundles and run through a hackle to remove short hairs. And the hairs are closely inspected for nits. If nits are found, the hairs are boiled in a solution of acetic acid and combed through with a nit comb.

Second, these hairs are washed and disinfected and then rinsed through a number of times to remove all shampoo and disinfectant residue. They are then either left to dry naturally or in an oven at around 80°C – 100°C. Some time we will hackle the hairs again at this point and it’s now that the hairs are curled, waved, colored or styled to the customer’s wish.

Third, the knotting is the most important and time consuming element of the whole process. We use a needle to attach the hairs to the base cap and full lace wig from an expert requires up to 40,000 individual knots, all done meticulously by hand. The front lace wig also requires 10,000 to 25,000 knots based on lace area. When the wig is complete, a last row of knotting is done to finish the edges and the inside of the wig is treated with a hot iron press to secure each knot in place to prevent any from falling out.
